So we're back, after a week in London -- the perfect business trip., with family!

Thoughts?

The underground has a loooong way to go before it's fully accessible.  Haven't walked this much in years -- thanks to my new titanium body part -- but ye gods, those stairs in the tube almost killed me.

It was wonderful seeing some of our fave sights (see Neal's Yard in Seven Dials, and the Grand Union Canal below) through the eyes of our kidlet. And she got an "A" in the presentation on Roman dress that she put together for her Latin class, based on photos and information obtained in the British Museum and the V&A, and turned into a power point on the plane (the price of 3 days out of school ...). She found it all a bit overwhelming at times though, and we had to take the occasional break to watch ducks puddle around in a major park.

Les Miz has stood the test of time.  The little flat we rented in Marylebone gave us a nice place to come home to.  My friend Kate hasn't changed one little bit.  18 years after we won the British team epee championship, I need new knees and a new shoulder -- and she still fences.  Jealousy doesn't even begin to describe it.

Oh and work? Went well, too -- mine and hubby's.  :-)

I know that sounds strange but I always love these little houseboats you find there...

I'm glad it was a good trip! I've had a couple of business trips work out to be family outings too, nothing international, but still good times.

\o/ for the kidlet's "A"!

And do post some duck pics! You can't go wrong with duck pics.

LONDONNNNN! And I am very protective of the Tube (I loooooove it, and it's doing good for being 150 years old) but yes, the stairs are terrible. I always forget at Covent Garden and try to walk up the equivalent of 15 stories of stairs (!!!) and then nearly die. And I'm supposed to be a fit young person (or as my dad says; "springemal" - which is German(?) for..?). BUT I AM SO GLAD YOU HAD FUN. (To be honest, I don't entirely trust people who don't like London. :P) Did you visit the joy that is Forbidden Planet? My visit was... frustrating, and not just in the "I WANT TO BUY ALL OF THIS" way.

And WOO for kidlet's A! The British Museum and V&A make everything better. :P (though I feel very strange calling your kid "kidlet". Especially because I have a feeling I am closer to her age than yours. :P) Congrats anyhoo!!

(I am so sorry, it's like I'm on a sugar high. And SPEWING WORDS EVERYWHERE. Sorrysorry.)

ooooh, we are currently debating between London and Rome for a giant family trip, but doing the same thing with renting an apartment and hanging out in between touristy stuff. This will probably take another year to pull off, but it's fun planning, too.
